My wife and I stayed at this superb B&B during the end of September. It is perched right over the Frasassi Caves and has simply amazing views over the hills and mountains of central Italy. If you want to experience REAL Italy, in a WWF protected area with Golden Eagles and amazing walks right on your doorstep, then this is definitely the place for you. The rooms were of such wonderful quality and Maggie (the owner) was such a fantastic host.
We travelled to Italy at the end of April to find the most amazing weather, warm with glorious sunshine. We travelled up through the mountain from Fabriano to find Fonte Fresca nestled near the top, what an amazing spot. The house itself was beautiful from the outside and we knew we had stumbled upon a treasure. On arrival we were greeted by Maggie (the owner) who welcomed us with coffee and biscuits on the terrace overlooking the valley below – truly spectacular. We were shown to our room which was large and airy with fantastic views. Everything was meticulously clean, comfortable and finished to a very high standard. Maggie advised us on all the local places to visit and advised on a walk up to the top of the mountain to look for the resident eagle, exhausting but worth it. We also went to the nearby caves, a treat not to be missed.
Overall if you travel to this part of Italy I cannot imagine you will find a more friendly and beautiful place to stay and very reasonably priced – what else can you ask for????????????????
The setting for the B and B is in the montains only a short distance from Fabriano – so perfect for getting away from the town but also only a 10 minute journey when one wants the shops and cafes. The views were stunning and breathtaking – as was the view from
Couple – no kids – stayed for 1 week.
our luxury bedroom – was elegantly designed with plenty of room for us both. Everything was so clean, perfectly organised as is the rest of the house. Breakfast was delicious – with the bonus of fresh fuit every morning (we never have time for this in the UK so such a treat). We could eat indoors or on the balcony – taking in the mountain views! The owner is very friendly and runs a proffesional service – clean towels and beds made everyday and anything else we needed was quickly sorted. The caves near by must not be missed and there are endless mountain walks. We loved our whole stay and would recomend to anyone staying 1 night or more. Not to be missed!
We took a leap of faith spending our family holiday in what we took to be a remote, even unfashionable part of the Italian country. This turned out to be an inspired gamble. Maggie, the brilliant hostess, sets the standard for hospitality; great company and helpful but never overbearing. The setting is so gorgeous you could never tire of the views, it’s real “Sound of Music” territory. We were a little concerned that we might be too cut off, since we don’t speak Italian; however it’s just a short and picturesque drive to a host of very good restaurants and bars in Fabriano and beyond. The Frassassi caves are by far the best we’ve seen and are a must. Surrounding medieval towns and breathtaking azure coves within comfortable reach complete the picture, and rival anything that Tuscany or Amalfi have to offer. The bonus is that it really feels like Italy, not just a tourist treadmill. Our advice: “Don’t hesitate!
This is a real gem and is possibly the best view I have every had from a hotel room. Rooms are clean, tasteful and beautifully thought out. It was an absolute pleasure to stay at this BnB and it felt more like home than your standard BnB ! If you are passing through the area I strongly recommend paying a visit
We stayed for 2 nights at the marvellous Fonte Fresca. The furnishings are classy and very much in keeping with a lovely old property that has been carefully renovated by Maggie our host. The rooms are spacious and spotless. The views are terrific, looking down to Fabriano and across to the mountains. Maggie could not be more friendly and helpful and breakfast was beautifully presented. The walk up the mountain straight from the back door is really worth doing. The short drive into Fabriano resulted in a delicious dinner and a unique opportunity to see the annual Infiorata, an floral art competition, which takes place in 4 fantastic locations in the town, where the main exhibits are put together by individual teams using flower petals ground to a powder. It really is unique. A wonderful weekend.
Perfect place to stay if visiting Grotte di Frasassi (you’re probably on top of the caves here, even though the entrance is several km away). Handy for Fabriano and not really that far from Ancona airport. Maggie is a wonderful host.
Fonte Fresca is fairly remote and that is fine. We had a wonderful time here and enjoyed getting to know Maggie. She had some fabulous advice about what to see in the area. Do not miss the caves and be sure and go to the paper museum! The food in Fabriano is great, too.
Sprookjesachtige plek … Top gastvrijheid, vriendelijkheid, hoffelijkheid, schoonheid, zeer mooie plek.
